Chardonnay

Chardonnay – ancient French technical kind of grapes. It relates to the ecological-geographical group of West-European group. The leaves are medium, roundish, with three or five lobes. The clusters are medium or small, cylindric or conic. The berries are medium or small, green-white with bronze spots on the sun side. The skin is thin, the pulp is juicy. The period from bud burst to full maturity in our condition is about 128-145 days at the total sum of active temperatures 2700-3200 0C. The variety is rather frost resistant. It is sensitive to mildew, oidium. We use Chardonnay grapes to make dry ordinary wine “Chardonnay”. The winematerials from Chardonnay blended with winematerials from Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc are used for making rose sparkling wine.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon - French technical kind of grapes of medium-late time of maturity. The leaves are medium, roundish, with five lobes, dark green. The clusters are medium, cylindric-conic. The berries are medium and small, dark blue. The skin is thick, the pulp is juicy. The period from bud burst to full maturity in our conditions is 145-150 days at the total sum of active temperatures 2900-3150 0C. The productivity is 70-100 centners/ha. The variety is resistant to frosts. Our company uses this variety for making red dry aged table wine “Cabernet Sauvignon”. Winematerials from Cabernet Sauvignon are blended with winematerials from Saperavi and Rkatsiteli are used for making semidry rose wine. Winematerials of this variety are also blended with winematerials from Cabernet Franc and Dzvelshavi form making red sparkling wine. Winematerials from Cabernet Sauvignon together with winematerials from Saperavi, Merlot and Malbec are used form making dessert wine “Kagor”.

 

 

 

 

Sauvignon

Sauvignon – technical kind of grapes of meduim time of maturity. The motherland of this variety is France (region of Sotern). Gives good results in our conditions. The leaves are medium, roundish, the clusters are small and medium, almost cylindrical, dense. The berries are medium, roundish, green-white, the skin is thick, the pulp is juicy. The period from bud burst to full maturity in the suburbs of the village of Khornabuji is about 130-135 days at the total sum of active temperatures 2700-2800 0C. The productivity is 60-100 centners/ha. The frost resistance is poor. The variety is sensitive to mildew and oidium. Our company uses Sauvignon grapes for making white table aged wine “Sauvignon”. The winematerials from Sauvignon are blended with winematerials from grapes Chardonnay and Pinot Noir form making rose sparkling wine.

Merlot

Merlot – French technical kind of grapes of medium time of maturity. The leaves are medium, round, with five lobes. The clusters are medium, cylindric conic. The berries are medium, round, black. the skin is stable, the pulp is juicy. The period from bud burst to full maturity in our condition is 150 days at the total sum of active temperatures 3260 0C. The productivity is 75-80 centners/ha. The variety is rather resistant to mildew, sensitive to oidium. Our company uses Merlot grapes for making dry table wine “Merlot”. The winematerials from Merlot are blended with winematerials from Saperavi and Cabernet Sauvignon for making dessert wine “Kagor”.

 
Malbec

Malbec – French technical kind of grapes of medium time of maturity. The leaves are medium, with three or five lobes. The clusters are small and medium, conic and wide-conic. The berries are medium, dark blue, almost black. The skin is of medium thickness, the pulp is juicy. The period from bud burst to full maturity in our condition is about 141-150 days at the total sum of active temperatures 2800-3050 0C. The variety is sensitive to mildew, is rather resistant to oidium, sensitive to frosts and droughts. Our company uses Malbec grapes to make red dry table wine “Malbec”. The winematerials from malbec are blended tithe winematerials from Saperavi, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for making dessert wine “Kagor”.
